So I’m off to the shooting show next month and have an empty slot for a .223 and .308, looking more at .308 first as I need something capable of reaching out at Orion this year, I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to a Howa 1500 depending on the package, If I go second hand then it’ll be a CZ, Remington 700, or Howa, any other suggestions? Tikka seem to be a bit more than I can reasonable get away with with the house colonel
Simon Hutchinson and Neil Wragg-

That’s one I keep forgetting about, they sponsor the precision rifle league and are used by quite a few competitors, not badly priced either, just got to find a local gun shop with them!

I’ve got a Remington 700 mounted in an MDT LSS XL Gen 2 Chassis and shot up at Orion last year with it. If the weather hadn’t been so poor I’m confident I could have got it out to 1000m. Was comfortably hitting 850m using 168gr S&B

I would say get a Tikka over everything however if the fun police are in force then the Bergara rifles are really great choice and have great reviews.
A mate of mine has also been looking at the Mossberg MVP LC They come in at under a grand.
Not sure what they are like but looks good for the price.
I took my Tac A1 to Orion last year and was hitting the 1000m gong no problem with 168gr GGG ammo-
I think I’m going to get hands on a Bergara at the show and if I’m happy then try and fine a local dealer for them, I like the standard stock options on them too over the other brands
