Round 2 of Guntrader’s website “upgrade” has commenced.
It is 2024 – There is quite literally no excuse for sub-standard software and websites. How you can not thoroughly test a website these days is beyond me.
Anyway here are just some of the “upgrades” you can expect that I have found so far, within 10 minutes I would add!
      – Many dealers are showing 0 guns for sale when in fact they have hundreds (individual listings can be found).
      – For traders you can expect to see your competitors products listed beneath your own as “you may also like”. Good for the end customer, not so much for retailers.
      – When searching for guns with the new boxes the first, “Type”, is not in alphabetical order so Shotgun appears first followed by Rifle – simply lazy programming here.
      – As above this happens with “Make” – Beretta and Browning are first followed my Miroku and then Blaser etc etc.
      – You can no longer search by caliber on the main page! Even when you select “Advanced Search” caliber is nowhere to be found until you then select an action and then you get to caliber.
      – When you get to caliber (and this the same for the rest, action, type and so on) these are categorised according to how many are on the site and not , as you would expect, caliber from small to large.
      – On the back end system for RFDs you STILL cannot view your own listing by pressing the VIEW button. How this still has not been implemented is just plain silly. For RFDs to update pictures we have to log into the public site and change them there. There is STILL no way of transitioning from register to site and back again.

As I said, I found these issues from 10 minutes of testing. There will be more that rear their ugly head as I continue to use the site. It quite simply isn’t good enough, I’m sure whatever “engineer” they have working on the site has come up with all sorts of promises and very complex excuses as to why certain things don’t work or do not make sense. Ever watched Cowboy Builders? Because I think that is what’s happened here.

I’m sure the response will be “don’t worry we know about these various issues and will iron them out in due course”. To that I say again, why has this site not been tested properly? Certain things do need to be experienced by the end user obviously but the simple stuff not being sorted is plain lazy.

Guntrader – Fire whoever you have working on this and go to a local university and find the software engineering department and have them sort it as any 18 year old that’s grown up coding can do a better job than this.
